DaVita Mobilizes Emergency Preparedness for Communities Impacted by Winter Storms

DENVER (JAN. 23, 2026) DaVita has activated its emergency response plan ahead of a winter storm expected Friday, January 23 through Monday, January 26 spanning much of the U.S. Severe weather is forecast from the Northeast through the central U.S. and into the Southern Rockies, with heavy snow, freezing rain and sleet anticipated across several states.

“In preparation for this weekend’s winter storm, our priority is ensuring there are no interruptions to patient care by adjusting schedules, preparing our centers to remain safe and operational and stocking extra supplies,” said Caroline Pierce, Group Vice President, DaVita. “In the event of center closures, DaVita’s national emergency management team will support centers in routing patients to locations that can safely provide dialysis care.”

DaVita teams are proactively sharing key medical information with patients—including prescriptions, dietary guidance and fluid restrictions—in the event extreme weather impacts connectivity.

Patients who need support scheduling treatment should call DaVita Guest Services at 1‑800‑400‑8331. For urgent medical needs, dial 9-1-1.

Patients on dialysis should maintain a dedicated emergency kit with items specific to their medical needs. Recommended supplies include:

Emergency Preparedness for People with Kidney Disease

  • Emergency phone numbers for their medical providers, including nearby alternate locations for dialysis treatments
  • At least three days’ worth of medications and a list of medicines and the dosage amount
  • For patients with diabetes, a week’s worth of supplies (syringes, insulin, alcohol wipes, glucose monitoring strips)
  • At least three days of emergency food

Store these items in an easy‑to‑carry container in case you need to leave home quickly. Check your kit regularly to replace expired supplies. For more information on emergency preparedness, visit https://www.davita.com/education/ckd-life/emergency-preparedness-for-people-with-kidney-disease
