The proclamation and presentation of a key to the city was announced at a reception organized by the Economic Development Board for Tacoma-Pierce County, the Tacoma-Pierce County Chamber of Commerce, and the Executive Council for a Greater Tacoma. United States Representative Norm Dicks (D-WA) was also in attendance to honor DaVita .
According to the proclamation signed by Mayor Baarsma, "we encourage all citizens to recognize the many contributions this exceptional company has made and will continue to make to the community."

DaVita recently completed negotiations to extend its lease on office space at 1423 Pacific Avenue as well as at the Columbia Bank Center for the company's nearly 900 teammates (employees) located in Tacoma.
