HOUSTON, May 6, 2014 /PRNewswire-USNewswire/ -- DaVita, a division of DaVita HealthCare Partners Inc. (NYSE: DVA) and a leading provider of kidney care services, today announced that three of its dialysis nurses made the Houston Chronicle's Top 100 Nurses list.

DaVita's dialysis nurses are the only dialysis nurses recognized on the list. Judy Geraci, director of clinical services for the Houston area; Sally Rice from DaVita Riverpark Dialysis; and Monserrat Ramos from DaVita North Houston Dialysis, were recognized for their dedication to patients and the care they provide every day.
"I am so humbled," said Geraci. "As dialysis nurses, we have the distinct privilege to care for our patients over a long period of time - developing relationships and collaborating across care teams to improve quality of life for patients. I share this honor with the inspiring team of nurses I work with in Houston and across the DaVita Village."
DaVita's clinical outcomes are the best or among the best in virtually every category in the industry. As a dialysis provider with more than 70 locations in the Houston area, DaVita also focuses on improving quality of life for its patients through flexible dialysis options to accommodate patients who manage work and dialysis.
"These three nurses represent the quality of care all of us, as patients, receive at DaVita," said Robert Gandy, executive chef and dialysis patient at DaVita Memorial Dialysis. "DaVita nurses go above and beyond in the care they provide, making a hard thing like dialysis not so hard anymore."
The Houston Chronicle asked patients, hospitals, clinics and schools in the Houston area to nominate nurses who excel in their care for others. The top 100 nurses were selected by a panel of experts.
Nurses will be recognized at the Houston Chronicle's Salute to Nurses awards luncheon on May 8 and in a special section in the newspaper on May 11.
