DENVER--(BUSINESS WIRE)--Aug. 6, 2013-- DaVita HealthCare Partners Inc. (NYSE: DVA) announced today that it has named Craig E. Samitt, M.D., to the position of executive vice president for its HealthCare Partners® division.
Prior to joining DaVita HealthCare Partners, Samitt, 49, served as president and CEO of Dean Health Systems in Madison, Wis., one of the largest integrated health care providers in the Midwest. During his tenure in that role, which began in 2006, he had oversight of the organization’s operational, financial and strategic direction.
Prior to joining Dean, he served as a senior operations executive for Harvard Pilgrim Health Care,Harvard Vanguard Medical Associates and Fallon Clinic, a multi-specialty group practice in centralMassachusetts. Samitt currently serves as a commissioner for the Medicare Payment Advisory Commission, commonly known as MedPAC, which advises Congress on Medicare policies.
Samitt earned his undergraduate degree from Tufts University; his Doctor of Medicine degree fromColumbia University, College of Physicians and Surgeons; and a Master of Business Administration degree from The Wharton School at the University of Pennsylvania. He trained in Internal Medicine at the Brigham and Women’s Hospital in Boston.
