DaVita Announcing Opening of Research Facility and Call Center in Metro Denver Area
DENVER--(BUSINESS WIRE)--Nov. 17, 2011-- DaVita Inc. (NYSE: DVA), a leading provider of kidney care services that is committed to improving the quality of life for those diagnosed with chronic kidney disease (CKD), today announced that it has chosen the Denver metropolitan area to locate two expanding parts of the company’s business. In total, DaVita® will be bringing as many as 200 quality jobs with benefits to the metro area. The location of each facility has not yet been announced.
First, DaVita Clinical Research® (DCR®) will be expanding its capability by building a new early clinical research unit adding medical, technical and scientific jobs to the community. This facility will provide the Denver metro area with additional opportunities to attract the world’s leading health care innovators, including pharmaceutical, biotech and medical device companies. This expansion of service shows a clear commitment to advancing the knowledge and practice of kidney care.
Secondly, DaVita is creating a call center in metro Denver that will be focused on finding a place for patients to get dialysis, whether traveling away from home or looking for a new permanent dialysis center. The center will take calls from patients, family members, hospitals and doctors and will help patients find a center while traveling even if there are no DaVita centers in the area they are visiting. DaVita’s existing call center, located in Malvern, Penn., makes thousands of these placements (both visiting and permanent) each month, and is expanding to Denver to handle the increased call volume.
“We are bringing these jobs to our new headquarters city because we have found Denver to be a great community to live and work in and a great community in which to do business,” said DaVitaChairman and CEO Kent Thiry. “Everything then mayor, now Governor John Hickenlooper promised regarding quality of life and the positive business environment in Denver and Colorado has turned out to be true and exceeded our expectations.”
“DaVita’s latest expansion is welcome news for Colorado,” said Colorado Governor John Hickenlooper. “DaVita knows that Colorado is a great state and we aim to make everyone know it is the best state in the nation for business.”
With these new jobs, DaVita will have an even greater impact on the local economy. Since DaVitaannounced the relocation of its corporate headquarters to Denver, DaVita has added more than 320 new jobs (not including today’s announcement) in metro Denver. Currently, the company has nearly 1,100 teammates in Colorado.
DaVita also affects the local economy in many ways beyond hiring new teammates. Each year the company brings 4,000-5,000 teammates to Denver from all over the country for DaVita’s training and development programs, representing nearly $2.5 million to the Denver economy through hotel stays, restaurants and other related revenue.
