This month DaVita celebrates the 10^th anniversary of its headquarters opening in downtown Denver.

When DaVita moved its corporate headquarters from California to Denver, the construction of “Casa del Mundo”—as it’s called by DaVita teammates—was the first corporate build-to-suit project located in the Denver central business district in 35 years. The construction helped spark new development in surrounding areas, opening opportunities for new businesses, creating jobs, and contributing to the overall economic vibrancy of lower downtown. To be exact, DaVita has created over 2,000 jobs since it moved to Denver per Colorado’s job growth record.

The design and construction of Casa del Mundo focused on the company’s commitment to sustainability. DaVita’s downtown Denver campus, which comprises Casa del Mundo and the building next door, Casa Vida, is Leadership in Energy and Environmental Design (LEED) Platinum Certified and features high-efficiency mechanical, electrical and plumbing systems.

LEED is the most widely used green building rating system in the world, and DaVita’s LEED Platinum Certification went beyond its 2020 sustainability goals of being LEED Gold Certified.

The campus is located near Union Station, the main downtown Denver transportation hub, which helps promote alternative transportation such as buses, light rail, biking and walking. In 2018, it was reported that nearly 80% of DaVita teammates walked, rode a bicycle, took the bus, rode the light rail or carpooled to work in Denver.

DaVita proudly maintains strong relationships with organizations focused on supporting the vitality and vibrancy of lower downtown, such as the Denver Metro Chamber of Commerce and the Downtown Denver Partnership.
